3 Things to Add to Your Diet

Typically, people who succeed with their diet closely follow two principles – consistency and flexibility.

A lot of the foods you eat will be the same, and sometimes you will get sick of the monotony, but that’s where the success lies. At the same time, if you don’t allow yourself to enjoy certain foods you love or go and eat at restaurants, you aren’t going to succeed in the long-term.

Nutrition is not a short-term game. You can ask anyone who has gained/lost weight, the hardest part is maintaining. If you stay flexible and indulge intelligently, you will find your balance.

So if you’re looking to spice up your diet without wrecking your progress, here’s a hand. I’m going to start with an absolute game-changer. This one is going to be a staple in my routine from here on out.

1.) The Best Iced Coffee – Espresso Shots mixed with Fairlife Vanilla Protein Shake (30g protein)

This will be hands down the best iced coffee you’ve ever had. If you have a Nespresso, great, but if not, you can grab a few shots of espresso from Starbucks and just ask for it over ice.

If making at home, make the shots, let it cool in the fridge for a minute or two, then put in a large cup, add the entire Fairlife drink, then add ice. If you want it a little sweeter, add your favorite sweetener (I put one packet of sweet-n-low in mine).

I’ve used the chocolate Fairlife shake here too, but the vanilla is the winner. There’s nothing I love more than caffeine and protein, so having an iced espresso with 30g of protein and incredible taste, it’s a dream come true.

Honestly, this tastes like a vanilla/coffee milkshake. Just trust me. I usually use 4 shots of espresso, but I’m also a caffeine addict.

2.) Cauliflower Gnocchi (Trader Joes)

When given the chance to eat great Gnocchi, I suggest you take it. But if you’re trying to stay a little tighter on the diet and want to enjoy gnocchi without too many carbohydrates, this is the move.

One serving has:

Calories – 140
Fat – 3g
Carbohydrate – 22g
Fiber – 6g
Protein – 2g

I’m still shocked at the texture of these and how closely it resembles real gnocchi. I’ve had cauliflower pizza crust and plenty of cauliflower rice, I think this is my favorite variation so far. The creation above is courtesy of Chef Rayna. The recipe is somewhere on her Instagram.

3.) Protein Ice Cream – Fairlife

It’s getting to the point where I think Fairlife should sponsor me. If their milk and protein shake options weren’t enough, they have moved into the ice cream world.

Halo and Enlightened are the two “protein ice cream” choices that you frequently hear about. I think both are pretty solid, but Fairlife always delivers, and has the creamy taste that the others often lack.

One serving of the Chocolate Peanut Butter has:

Calories – 210
Fat – 12g
Carbohydrates – 25g
Protein – 12g

Hopefully, I gave you some new ideas to implement into your boring diet. If you do nothing else, just give #1 a shot and then let me know how right I am.
