5 Protein Snacks That Taste Great
The health and wellness industry today is massive. People want healthier, convenient options and are willing to pay more for it. My previous articles on Protein Bars and Protein Powders (link below) have been two of the most visited on my site, so this is clearly an area people are interested in. Below, I’ve compiled my current top 5 protein snacks that taste great.
1.) Halo Top Ice Cream
Nutritional Information (Per serving):
- Calories – 60
- Total Fat – 2g
- Carbohydrates – 14g
- Fiber – 5g
- Protein – 6g
I have tried a lot of different ice cream and frozen yogurt variations in the past. This is hands down the best tasting, calorically acceptable ice cream out there. The entire pint is only 280 calories, so when you inevitably finish the whole thing you can still feel ok about yourself.
Recommended Flavor: Chocolate
Other flavors include – Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, Lemon Cake, Mint chocolate.
2.) FlapJacked Mighty Muffin
Nutritional Information
- Calories – 220
- Total fat – 8g
- Carbohydrate – 21g
- Fiber – 6g
- Protein – 20g
If I didn’t love ice cream so much this would definitely be number 1. Add water, stir and then microwave for 35-45 seconds and out comes a soft, flavor packed protein muffin. I’ve found that it can be used for a quick pre-workout meal or a snack that won’t derail your diet.
Recommended Flavor: Double Chocolate
Other flavors include – Peanut butter, Maple Pumpkin, S’mores, Cinnamon Apple.
3.) Fairlife Chocolate Milk
Nutritional Information
- Calories – 140
- Total Fat – 4.5
- Carbohydrate – 13g
- Protein – 13g
If you are someone who enjoys chocolate milk, this might change your life. First off, in my personal opinion, this tastes better than regular chocolate milk. Second, it has 50% more protein and 50% less sugar than traditional chocolate milk. I’ve used it for a pre-workout, post-workout and even late night snack to quell any cravings.
Recommended Flavor: Chocolate
Other flavors include – Regular Milk options
4.) RXBAR
Nutritional Information:
- Calories – 200
- Total fat – 9g
- Carbohydrate – 22g
- Fiber – 4g
- Protein – 12g
While the RXBAR isn’t exactly a protein bar, I had to show it some love in this category. Where the bar excels is in its quality taste and simple ingredients. The front label often displays the majority of the ingredients in the natural whole food bar. It’s as simple as egg whites, nuts, dates and cacao.
Recommended Flavor: Peanut Butter or Chocolate Coconut
Other flavors include – Chocolate Sea Salt, Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon, Coffee Chocolate and Mint Chocolate.
5.) NuGo Dark Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt
Nutritional Information:
- Calories – 200
- Total fat – 5g
- Carbohydrate – 28g
- Protein – 10g
The NuGo bar made the list simply on taste. The macronutrients aren’t great as the protein is relatively low compared to the carbohydrates. I really love dark chocolate and chocolate covered pretzels so this bar hits home for me. Because of its higher carbohydrate content I tend to have it around workouts and will add in some additional protein.
Recommended Flavor: Chocolate Pretzel with Sea Salt
Other flavors include – Mint Chocolate Chip, Mocha Chocolate, Chocolate Chip, Peanut butter cup, Chocolate coconut.
There you have it, 5 delicious protein snacks to help you on your quest to lean and ripped.
