Scale Not Moving?

I just wanted to make a few quick comments on those who are frustrated with their dieting/working out progress.

Very few great things come without sacrifice. I understand that you love your cereal, Greek yogurt and orange juice for breakfast but do you love where you are at? If it’s not working then you need to change it. If you are unwilling to make minor changes then you must be satisfied with where you are. There isn’t a magic diet, pill or workout regiment. It only takes consistency and some self-discipline.

Fitness food trackers are useful in that they make you AWARE of your eating habits and allow you to learn more about the foods you eat. However, their guidelines for your macronutrient intake is often way off. These trackers assume a calorie is a calorie (even most fitness gurus will be split on the truth of this) and are based on a skewed food pyramid. Here’s a general guideline. If you are sedentary, you likely don’t need many carbohydrates; a High Protein, Moderate Fat, Low Carb diet would work well for this person. If you exercise with weights you can handle more carbohydrates due to exercise’s effects on insulin sensitivity.

Here’s my advice: ask for help. Even highly conditioned bodybuilders and figure competitors hire diet coaches to help them achieve their goals. At first it may be hard because you have conditioned yourself to eat X foods at X times. It usually takes 2 weeks to form a new habit. So while those first 2 weeks of your diet/exercise plan may be hard, the rest of your life will be more fulfilling and rewarding as you climb toward your goal.
