Medball Figure 8 Video
This is a great exercise I stole from Buddy Morris to challenge proprioception and single leg stability. It’s an extremely versatile movement as you can use it in rehabilitation, as part of a warm-up or circuit. As with all exercises, there are many ways to progress or regress this movement.
For rehabilitation, I start with easier single leg balance challenges (ex. balance on one leg for time). Once they demonstrate proficiency, meaning good knee/trunk control, I will add variables – like a medball chest press, eyes closed balance, figure 8, airex pad etc. So I will go simple – complex.
I will be adding a bunch of other variations I use to this members-only section.*
Once we get to this movement, I might start with 5-10 reps. Again, execution is important. The first progression is adding more reps, 5–>10–>15. Next, I will add an airex pad or unstable surface (just in rehab scenarios as this is likely the only beneficial time to use these surfaces) or a weight vest to increase the difficultly and intensity of the exercise.
